Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA)

The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) is a Statutory Body established in the year 2000, in accordance with the Electricity Act, Chapter 157 of the Laws of Uganda. ERA is charged with the Regulation of Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Sale, Export, and Import of Electrical Energy in Uganda.

For Five (5) Consecutive Times (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), ERA has been Recognized as the Best Regulator on the Continent of Africa in the Electricity Regulatory Index studies by the African Development Bank.
